10 Fitness Coaches Share The One Food They Eat Every Single Day

Are you suffering from a case of “decision fatigue” when it comes to figuring what to eat everyday? Us too. From breakfast and pre-lunch snack, to lunch, pre-workout fuel, and dinner we’re making a TON of food and meal decisions every day. Research from the Cornell Food and Brand Lab found that we typically make more than 200 food-related choices a day. Woah. No wonder we’re feeling burnt out! Who can blame us for ditching decision-making for our habitual food-faves at least once or twice a day?

While they certainly recommend balance, moderation, and at least some variety,  the fitness coaches at ICE NYC all have their own “personal superfood”, you know, that food they reach for almost daily for the purposes of nutrition, convenience, and habit. As an added bonus, their go-to’s are also delicious and easy, they’d have to be for someone living fitness to want to eat them so often.

Find out what our coaches are eating on the reg and consider adding them into your own food rotation:

1. Bananas

“I eat a lot of bananas because they are easy to digest, even after a workout. Also peanut butter... I try not to put it on everything, but I like it with everything, so…”.-Deanna Gibaldi, CrossFit Coach and Regional CrossFit Athlete

2. Coffee

“Coffee. Perhaps a guilty pleasure/ daily indulgence because I drink a lot of it (but it gets me through my long days and late shifts!)”.-Gigi Rippolone, HAIL, Cycle & Row Coach

3. Yogurt

“Yogurt because it is full of protein… But it’s also a dairy product so sometimes I question whether it's the best thing for me!!”.-Nihan Nelkin, CrossFit Coach

4. Avocado

“Avocado- it's a great source of healthy fat and can easily be added to any meal or just be eaten as a snack”.-Jenn Kang, CrossFit Kids Coach

5. Rice Cake (with PB+J)

“Rice cake with peanut butter and jelly. It's my treat”. -Liz Adams, ICE NYC Head CrossFit Coach and Regional CrossFit Athlete

6. Bananas & Almond Butter

“This is my dessert substitute since I started living a mostly Paléo lifestyle. It satisfies my sweet tooth and is high in protein and healthy fats. If I want to switch it up, I slice the banana in half, drizzle it with almond butter and coconut shavings and stick it in the oven for a few minutes to warm it up. It's gooey, warm, and  amazing”.-Nicolas Dromard, CrossFit Coach

7. Tropical Fruit

“The one food I eat every single day is some sort of tropical fruit.  It not only is the best pre-workout supplement, but it also reminds me how much I love warm weather.  Pineapples are great for pre-workout snack and doesn’t have all the chemicals that you find in most pre-workout drinks and powders”.- CJ Maldonado, CrossFit Coach

8. Bread!

“This is something I'm working on, but it seems like a staple. It's the formidable structure of a sandwich, the dip-able element of an egg and toast breakfast and the best vehicle for peanut butter!”.-Logan Ricket, HAIL, Row & Cycle Coach

9. Steamed Greens

“I eat steamed greens EVERY DAY! And ready for this? I eat them at almost for EVERY MEAL… Guys, it is SO easy to make and my body can't get enough of them. My carbs are almost always from dense, fibrous greens. Their an essential and easy to steam in advance”.-Kelsey Crismon, HAIL & Cycle Coach

10. Fresh Fruit

“I don't really have anything that I eat every single day….I get bored if I eat the same thing twice a week!!! Except fresh fruit. I have a serious love for fruit. I could eat berries, melon, or clementines all day and be perfectly happy”.-Margie Welch, HAIL Coach
